Metrode was founded in 1963 as a privately owned company. In the subsequent years it has grown to become the UK's leading manufacturer and supplier of alloyed welding consumables. The most recent step in Metrode’s development occurred in November 2006 when Metrode joined the Lincoln Electric Company as a business unit within Lincoln Electric Europe.

Metrode offers one of the largest ranges of alloyed welding consumables available from a single source. The products range from those suitable for low alloy steels, through numerous diverse stainless steels, to those matching the performance of nickel-base alloys, includes all the major welding process:

  • Manual Metal Arc Electrodes (SMAW) Supplied in hermetically sealed tins with ring-pull opening, or vac-packed for site use
  • Solid Wires for TIG welding (GTAW) Packed in 2.5Kg or 5Kg tubes
  • Solid wires for MIG/MAG welding (GMAW) 15 Kg reels
  • Flux Cored Wires (FCAW) 12.5Kg or 15Kg spools, double wrapped and vacuum packed
  • Metal Cored Wires (MCW) 12.5Kg or 15Kg spools, double wrapped and vacuum packed
  • Wire/flux combinations for Submerged Arc (SAW) Sub arc 25 Kg reels, Flux 20, 22.5 or 25 Kg drums. Some types are changing to 25kg bags - please check prior to placing your order

Products are manufactured to conform with the current issues of BS, BS EN, and AWS-ASME and DIN standards where applicable. MMA electrodes are batch-printed for easy identification. Full test certificates are supplied with every order. All test laboratories used for external, mechanical and specialist testing are NAMAS approved.
